What about print versus the web? You could, after all, supplement the lecture with a written handout of the lecture material and that would have significant educational value (not just a handout with pictures of your Powerpoint slides). Print does have some significant advantages over the web. It's more portable and cheaper. You don't need a computer, or even electricity, to use it. It's more familiar. It's faster. The tools are easier to use (Word vs. HTML). Print is reliably WYSIWYG ("What you see is what you get") as opposed to WYSIWYWYG ("What you see is what you wish you got").
